Days of St. Emperor Constantine and Empress Helena

Days of St. Emperor Constantine and Empress Helena (from 1 to 5 June) - each year for a few days in city of Nis hosts various sports, scientific and cultural events , which celebrates the birth of one of the most prominent citizens of Nis - Constantine the Great and his mother Empress Helena .

Nišvil - International Jazz Festival

Nišvil - a four-day festival, which became one of the leading and most visited jazz festivals in Southeastern Europe, with attendance of 100 000 people. From the very beginning, the concept of the festival (apart from the "traditional" forms of jazz,) was based primarily on the fusion of jazz and the ethnic traditions of different parts of the world, especially with the traditions of Balkans. The most famous jazz magazine in the world "Downbeat" said that Nisville festival not only promotes jazz as a music genre originated on the American continent, but also music traditions of the Balkans, and especially the combination of these two styles, which resulted in presenting the music of the Balkans as a new world trend. Here are some names of artists: Billy Cobham, Roy Hargrove, Tom Harrell, Benny Golson, Solomon Burke, Stanley Jordan, Candy Dulfer.

Film Festival

Festival of Actors' Achievements in Nis is a unique event for the film industry and the actors themselves. The festival started in 1966, on the initiative of Serbian actors guild with film screenings on the Nis Fortress summer stage. Symbolic gesture during the festival officially handing over the keys of the President of the jury by the Mayor of Nis . Film Festival is always one of the most popular events. Held in the largest outdoor summer stage of Niš Fortress . In Nis Film Festival participated many famous artists such as Richard Burton , Elizabeth Taylor and others.


Nisomnia - held in early September. This is a music festival offering a lot of fun within the walls of Nis fortress. The visitors enjoy listening to various musical styles, from electronic tones played by DJs, to the rock and pop sound of national and international stars.

Days of Burek

Days of burek (late August - early September) – on open air, near the Nishava river citizens of Nis and tourists enjoy variety of exceptional dishes each year. From the classical burek with cheese to a combination of ham and bacon burek, it is hard to resist the smell of bread from the Nis bakerys these days.


NIMUS (late October - early November) - classical music festival, which is traditionally held in Nis for 37 years and includes performances of local and international symphony and chamber orchestras and instrumental performances by soloists and opera singers .

International Choirs' Festival

International Choirs' Festival (еvеry two years in July) - It was first held 45 ago. The event later evolved into the International Choral Festival and each year attracts a large number of local and foreign choirs. In 2008 thе event was organized by the Patriarch of Russia and the Serbian Patriarch.
